    Local roundup: NFA's Andrew Cote earns spot on coaches All-State overall team

    Senior wide receiver Andrew Cote of Norwich Free Academy was one of 26 players chosen as the state’s best football players and named to the Connecticut High School Coaches Association’s All-State “overall” team.

    Cote had 63 catches for 1,139 yards and 15 touchdowns during the regular season. His 15 touchdowns was tied for second in the state based on statistics that have been inputted into MaxPreps.com’s database.

    Seniors Nate Cote (linebacker) and Xavier Marquez (defensive back) of NFA were both selected to the Class LL defensive team.

    Waterford senior quarterback Ryan Bakken was named to the Class M offensive team, and junior linebacker-fullback Jackson Harshberger was chosen to the defensive team. Senior Connor Leduc (offensive tackle-nose guard) and junior Jacob Galarza (offensive tackle-defensive end) from Class M finalist Killingly were also named to the defensive and offensive teams, respectively, while Bacon Academy senior kicker Sean Baldyga earned a spot on the Class S offensive team.

    Men's basketball

    • Jared Garcia had 15 points and eight rebounds as St. Thomas More edged Vermont Academy, 75-75.
