Montville-NL advances to Section 3 LL baseball final

Montville — PJ Evans and Eddie Torres combined to drive in five runs as Montville-New London beat Guilford 6-1 in the Connecticut Section 3 Little League baseball tournament on Sunday.

The team advances to the tournament final on Sept. 27 against the winner of the Sept. 26 game between Guilford and Rocky Hill, which lost to Montville-New London 6-2 in the first game in the round-robin tournament on Saturday.

Desmond Powers and Torres pitched three innings each, combining for the victory and nine strikeouts. Evans had three hits and drove in two runs and Torres had two hits and two RBI.
