    Local roundup: Ledyard knocks off Lyman in girls' soccer

    Ledyard — Jess English had a goal and an assist as Ledyard knocked off unbeaten Lyman Memorial on Wednesday, 3-0, in a girls' soccer game.

    Maddie McLeod  and Maddie McLeod also scored for the Colonels (3-1-2) and Delaney Vaudrey added an assist.

    Rayne Bobbi had 10 saves for the Bulldogs (4-1-1).

    In other games:

    • Bryn Dickinson scored in overtime to lift Waterford to a 2-1 win over Fitch. Nicole Li also scored for the Lancers (4-0) and Aimee Girard assisted on both goals. Grace Jenkins had 18 saves, Grace Cosmopoulos scored and Laura Johnson-Hoffman had an assist for the Falcons (1-5).

    • Sienna Sferrazza scored twice and Angelica Tompkins had a goal and an assist as St. Bernard beat New London, 3-1. Elizabeth Hannaford and Alyssa Hernandez both had an assist for the Saints (2-1-1) and Chloe Jennings had four saves. Cassandra Roman scored and Lynaisha Quinones had the assist for the Whalers (0-4).

    • Wheeler scored three goals in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and beat Griswold 4-1. Katelyn Melinosky, Katie Pierce and Hayden Bresnan each had a goal and an assist for Wheeler. Brooke Dowrey also scored an Addie Hauptmann had 14 saves for Wheeler (2-2). Madilyn Wooten scored to give Griswold (0-5) a 1-0 lead.

    • Skylar Frost had four goals and two assists as Williams downed Forman, 10-4. Sarah Cole had two goals and two assists, Lucy Fader scored twice and Marlee Anselmi and Phoebe Taylor both scored for the Blues.

    • Grasso Tech lost to Goodwin Tech 6-2. Natalie Smith scored both goals for Grasso (0-4).

    H.S. volleyball

    • Marina Colonis had eight kills, four digs and two aces as Waterford blanked Plainfield 25-12, 25-17 and 25-16. Kate Lange had seven kills and four aces, Izzi Fraser had 13 assists and Erica Mugovero had 11 digs for the Lancers (3-4).

    • Kuranda Ruggiero had 19 assists as Griswold blanked Montville 25-9, 25-22 and 26-17. Hailey Eliasson had 10 digs and Sonja Matheson had nine kills for Griswold (4-1). Christyna Winstead had eight kills and six digs, Maya Hillman had six kills and three blocks and Abby Luyten had eight assists for Montville (3-3).

    • Cheney Tech beat Grasso Tech 25-16, 25-21, 20-25 and 27-25. Sherly Caba had nine kills and Jazmyn Lopez had 10 points for Grasso (2-3).

    • Ledyard beat Bacon Academy 3-2. Aaliyah Amidon had 21 assists, Grace Haydash had 18 digs and 14 kills, Bryleigh Johnson had 16 digs and Layla Lasisomphone had five aces and 13 assists for Ledyard (4-2), which won 25-19, 28-26, 20-25, 14-25, 15-9. Kiera Stewart had 14 assists for Bacon (3-2).

    • Abby Speckhals had 18 assists and 12 digs as Old Lyme beat Coginchaug 27-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22 in a Shoreline Conference match. Abby Sicuranza had seven aces and seven kills and Melanie Warren had 16 digs for Old Lyme (3-3, 3-3).

    Women's volleyball

    • Lebanon's Meg Verizzi had 45 assists in Eastern Connecticut's 25-19, 25-15, 23-25, 25-5 win over Mitchell. Claire Binfield had 21 assists for Mitchell (3-6).

    H.S. boys' soccer

    • Tyler Nadeau scored twice for Norwich Tech in its 3-1 win over Wilcox Tech. Hunter Jackson scored and Zach Lamitie had an assist for the Warriors (3-2).

    • Ethan Lackner scored in the 93rd minute as Killingly beat Wheeler 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday night. Jonny Anderson had given Wheeler (2-2) a 1-0 halftime lead with his goal that was assisted by Matt Pierce.

    H.S. boys' cross country

    • NFA picked up three wins, including a 21-39 victory over Fitch in an ECC Division I meet, on Tuesday. NFA (6-0, 1-0) also beat Stonington 20-43 and St. Bernard 15-50. Ryan Gruczka of Stonington won the race in a time of 16:46. NFA took second with Ethan Manfredi (17:22) and third with Tyler Crabb (17:28). Fitch rounded out the top five with Carson Riley (17:56) and Ben Chidley (18:26).

    Fitch (5-1, 0-1) beat Stonington 20-42 and St. Bernard 15-50 and Stonington (2-4) beat St. Bernard (0-5) 20-38.
