Charter Oak Federal Credit Union in Groton is one of more than a dozen financial institutions in Connecticut joining in an advertising campaign to promote the advantages of using credit unions.

The cooperative advertising campaign will promote credit unions through newspapers and television ads across the state, The Commercial Record reports. The Credit Union League of Connecticut is sponsoring the cooperative campaign funded by voluntary contributions.

"It is important that people in Connecticut are aware that credit unions are here, available to them, and offer convenient and affordable financial services," said Tony Emerson, president and CEO of the credit union association.
