Sharing a ride gets weeklong boost

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has proclaimed this week as CTrides Week, a time when commuters are asked to consider alternative travel to get into work.

Drivers can visit www.CTrides.com and pledge to share a ride on at least one day. Efforts to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality in Connecticut were cited as main reasons for sharing rides or biking or walking instead of driving.

CTrides Week partnering companies include Bigelow Tea, Cartus and Travelers. Government agencies, educational institutions and non-profits also are onboard.

Visit CTrides.com or stay up-to-date on CTrides Week at Facebook.com/CTrides or through Twitter @CTrides.
