Charter Oak to open Putnam branch

Groton — Charter Oak Federal Credit Union will open a new full-service branch in Putnam this summer, Chief Executive Officer Brian Orenstein announced Wednesday in a press release.

“This new branch gives Charter Oak a strong new presence in an area that we hadn’t been able to fully serve — until now,” Orenstein said. “And it provides strategic value to Charter Oak, given our merger with Quiet Corner Community Credit Union Inc., and our expanding membership in the greater Putnam, Thompson and Woodstock areas.”

Charter Oak’s Putnam location, which will open at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, will be its 13th branch in New London and Windham counties. It will absorb Quiet Corner’s operations at 107 Providence St. in Putnam.
