Uncasville student wins bank scholarship

XuJia "Jack" Cao of Uncasville has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship, presented by the Liberty Bank Foundation.

The $1,000 scholarship is presented annually to a student who plans to major in engineering or a technology-related field.

Cao, a Montville High School student, plans to attend the University of California-Santa Barbara to pursue a degree in software engineering. Teachers describe him as having an excellent work ethic, strong character and passion for science.

A member of the International Club, Math Team and Olde Mistick Village Dance Team, Cao volunteered for the Chinese and American Cultural Assistance Association.
