    Bankers honor Alves

    Kate Alves

Kate Alves of Groton, an assistant vice president at Chelsea Groton Bank, has been named a 2015 "New Leader in Banking" by The Connecticut Banker's Association.

The award, bestowed last month at Mohegan Sun during the annual BankWorld conference, recognizes rising stars of the banking industry who are 50 and younger.

The bank's executive vice president, Rich Cascio, described Alves as a "well-known, enthusiastic and energetic leader within the Groton community."

Alves currently manages the bank's commercial credit department. She also serves as treasurer of the Groton Scholarship Committee and is a member of the City of Groton's Economic Development Commission.
