Seaport to host 26th annual Wooden Boat Show June 30 to July 2

Mystic -- Mystic Seaport, in conjunction with WoodenBoat Publications, will sponsor the 26th annual WoodenBoat Show, which draws large crowds of wooden boat lovers from June 30 to July 2.

More than 100 wooden boats of all type will be on display from hand-crafted kayaks to schooners and mahogany runabouts.

In addition, there will be boat building demonstrations and workshops as well as exhibitors selling items such as maritime art, antiques, tools, books and nautical gear.

One popular feature each year is the “I Built It Myself” display of home-built boats and Family BoatBuilding, where families and teams work to build their own pre-purchased kits during the weekend. Work begins at 9 a.m. Friday and ends around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Regular museum admission provides access to The WoodenBoat Show.

New this year will be deck tours of the Viking ship Draken Harald Hårfagre, a reconstructed longship that sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 2016.

Tours will run throughout the show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tours cost $6 per person. Tickets are available at the ship and at The ticket is in addition to regular admission to Mystic Seaport.
