    The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT will host a workshop about "Storytelling for Business Development" on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Atria Crossroads Place, 1 Beechwood Drive, Waterford. Workshop presenter Michelle Yozzo Drake, a public speaking coach, will offer how-to's of telling a memorable story to build a business' brand and create stronger connections with clients.     The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT will host a workshop about "How to Become a Translator or Interpreter" on Friday, Sept. 21,  2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Chamber's office, 914 Hartford Turnpike, 2nd floor, Waterford. Presented by Language Link Corporation, this workshop teaches the protocols of professional interpreting practices and shows guests how to put their language skills to good work.     The Young Professionals of Eastern CT and the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT's Community Concierge program have organized "Adulting 101: Resource Expo for Young Adults," taking place Thursday, Oct. 4, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Three Rivers Community College, 574 New London Turnpike, Norwich. This resource expo is intended for young adults learning life skills, personal growth, and long-term financial stability. This event is part trade show, part workshop series. Attend a number of seminars or explore display tables from local businesses. Professional headshots will be offered for a $20 fee.     The Connecticut Department of Labor will hold a Micro Career Fair Sept. 19 at the Montville American Job Center. The event will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the job center, 601 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Suite 1, Uncasville.     The Young Professionals of Eastern CT and guests from the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT's Community Concierge program will participate in a combined Community Concierge Connections and YPsocial event on Thursday, Sept. 20 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Hygienic Art Park, 76 Bank St., New London. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required.     OPEN HOUSES

    Advantage Personal Training will celebrate its new addition on Friday, Sept. 28 from 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Advantage Personal Training, 2906 Gold Star Highway, Mystic. There will be food, and friends are encouraged to bring a potluck dish. The 2,100-square-foot addition was built over the spring and summer. Greg Drab, who started APT in 1999, said it was needed because the growing clientele was squeezing the existing space.     HONORS

    Westerly Hospital was recently recognized for its work in promoting enrollment in state organ and tissue donor registries. Through the Workplace Partnership for Life campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration, Westerly Hospital was among 244 hospitals nationwide to receive bronze recognition status. The hospital’s efforts to increase organ donations included an information table in the main lobby staffed by Anna Pelchat, LICSW, from the hospital’s case management department during April’s Donate Life month and an organ donor and tissue drive held on-site.     The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT is seeking nominations for its annual Social Service Awards. One outstanding citizen will be recognized with the new SAVA Insurance Group Guided by Heart Award, which honors someone who leads with their heart, who treats others with respect and compassion, and who expects nothing in return. Additional awards will be presented to a volunteer of the year, staff member of the year, executive director of the year, and board member of the year.     The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT is seeking nominations for its annual Military Community Support Award. The recipients will be honored at the Chamber's 9th Annual Military Appreciation Breakfast on Nov. 2 at Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa.     The Great Neck Country Club Women’s Golf Association held their 8th annual Rally for the Cure golf tournament to benefit TBBCF on Aug. 7 and raised $12,000. Since 2010, Rally for the Cure has raised over $47,000 for TBBCF.
