    Voter turnout for municipal elections up in most southeastern Connecticut towns

    The statewide voter turnout for last week’s municipal election among registered was 32.73 percent, according to a press release from Secretary of the State Denise Merrill.

    The town with the highest voter turnout was Prospect, where 58.7 percent of registered voters cast ballots. The lowest turnout was in Sterling with only 7.56 percent turning out to vote

    We looked at data provided by the Secretary of the State to compare southeastern Connecticut voter turnout for the last three municipal elections. The highest turnout for this year’s election occurred in Old Lyme with 45.5 percent, while the lowest occurred in Lyme with 17.7 percent.

    The following towns are not included in the statewide map because they did not have municipal elections: Andover, Bethany and Woodbridge. Hartford is not included in the map because of a discrepancy recount. The following towns are not included in the map because they did not submit complete information by November 5: Bethlehem, Brookfield, Coventry, Danbury, Eastward, Essex, Farmington, Middlefield, Portland, Sprague, Winchester and Woodbury.
