Dennis and Joanne (St. Martin) Shea of Lisbon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 10, 2021. They were married July 10, 1971, in St. Thomas Church, Voluntown by Msgr. Joseph V. King. A surprise renewal of vows was planned by their children at St. Thomas Church on July 10th. After the ceremony, they were honored at The Fisherman Restaurant in Groton with their children and grandchildren in attendance.

Mrs. Shea taught first and second grades in the Canterbury Public School System for 36 years having retired in 2010. She has continued to substitute teach in area schools. Mr. Shea retired from the Griswold Public School system as a Guidance Counselor in 2008 after 37 years of employment. The couple have three children, Jill Atkinson, Tim Shea, and Erin Turchetta, and five grandchildren, James and Ryan Atkinson, Timmy and Jenny Shea, and Teagan Turchetta.
