    USS Sealion Class joins the fleet

    Groton — Seventy-one sailors of "Class 18100," USS Sealion, graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School on Friday.

    Yeoman Senior Chief Cynthia Boateng was Class Honor Graduate with a 95.09 GPA.

    Seaman Brett Clawson was recipient of the Navy Core Values Award and Seaman Apprentice William Ibbetson received the Submarine Heritage Award.

    Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Cheyanna Coy and Fireman Omar Crowl joined Clawson as graduates with distinction.

    Basic Enlisted Submarine School is a six-week introduction to the basic theory, construction and operation of nuclear-powered submarines. In preparation for an assignment, sailors receive instruction on shipboard organization, submarine safety and escape procedures.
