New London ― The City of New London, Ocean Beach Park and New London Veterans Affairs are holding their 5th Annual Military Appreciation Day on Saturday at Ocean Beach.

Access and parking is free all day for veterans and active-duty military who show their military or veterans identification or DD-214 at the gate.

There will be a Connecticut Veterans Wartime Service Medal ceremony at 3 p.m. Scheduled speakers include Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District; the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs commissioner; and military leaders from the Coast Guard Academy and the Naval Submarine Base. There will also be vendors from 12 to 5 p.m.
