    Movie tip: "The Lion King"

    Did “The Lion King”

really need to be made into a live-action movie? Nope. Sure, this new "Lion King" is a diverting two hours. But unlike the Broadway adaptation, which was wildly inventive even as it maintained the spirit and story of the original, this remake doesn’t bring much new to the proceedings. Except, of course, that the creatures now look real, as opposed to being cartoon characters. Among the voice actors, there are some standouts. Billy Eichner and Seth Rogan are hilarious highlights as Timon and Pumbaa, and James Earl Jones, who is now 88, makes a powerful impression reprising his role of Mufasa. Oh, and some newcomer named Beyonce Knowles-Carter does pretty well as Nala.
