    Hygienic Park film series begins

Hygienic is kicking off its Summer Flickers with an Elvis Presley musical drama, 1958's "King Creole."

The film, which is screened Wednesday outdoors at the Hygienic Art Park, is about a guy who, failing to graduate high school, takes a job singing in a nightclub. He runs with some criminals and finds himself linked to two young women. One of those female leads, by the way, is Dolores Hart, who left acting to become a nun and now lives in Bethlehem, Connecticut.

As always, Summer Flickers has collected a diverse line-up . You get a double dose of Coen brothers, with the gonzo "Raising Arizona" and the iconic "The Big Lebowski," which has become a Summer Flickers fixture. There's "The Little Mermaid" for the kids and "Kill Bill, Vol. 1" for the Tarantino fans. Summer Flickers goes old-school with "Phantom of the Paradise" and brings out the Oscar-winning "French Connection."

If you want to eat or drink during the movies, you can buy popcorn, candy, soda, beer and wine on site.
