Creating fantastical worlds: ILM’s Aaron McBride gives talk
Aaron McBride grew up in Ledyard and has spent the last two decades creating creatures, technologies, and out-of-this-world locales for major motion pictures.
How major? Well, they include a number of “Star Wars” flicks, as well as “The Avengers,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Jurassic World.”
McBride, who is senior art director at the famed Industrial Light & Magic visual effects company, will give a live Zoom presentation on Saturday sponsored by Bill Memorial Library of Groton. I interviewed McBride in 2020 for an article in The Day, and I can tell you that he’s got fascinating tales to tell.
On Saturday, he’ll discuss his creative process and how moviemaking has changed. Afterward, there will be a Q&A.
Aaron McBride, 1 p.m. Saturday, virtual sponsored by Bill Memorial Library of Groton; free, registration required: (860) 445-0392.
