Karen Allen is best known as an actress, of course. She played Marion Ravenwood in several Indiana Jones movies, and she co-starred in such films as “Starman” and “Scrooged.”

But she is also a director as well.

She will be at the Garde Arts Center on Sunday to screen the 2017 film “A Tree. A Rock. A Cloud.,” which is Allen’s directorial debut.

The event is presented by the Mystic Film Festival.

“A Tree. A Rock. A Cloud.,” which runs 30 minutes, is based on the short story by Carson McCullers in which a man meets a boy in 1947. The man relates “a luminous tale of personal heartbreak and loss, and of his hard-won understanding of the nature of love.”

There will be a talk-back with Allen, including a Q&A, as well as a meet and greet. During the meet and greet, producers will be on hand to talk about Allen’s next directorial effort, “The Batting Cage,” which is expected to be filmed next year.

    “A Tree. A Rock. A Cloud.,” 3 p.m. Sunday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $34; gardearts.org, (860) 444-7373.
