With apologies to Yogi and Winnie the Pooh, the world's cutest bear just might be Paddington.

Paddington, of course, has starred in his own popular line of children's books written by Michael Bond, starting in the 1950s and continuing to today.

A number of artists have drawn Paddington over the years, and one of them — R.W. Alley — will be at Bank Square Books in Mystic on Saturday.

"Paddington" isn't his only claim to fame.

Alley has illustrated upwards of 100 children's books and has worked on some of those with his wife, author Zoë B. Alley. The Alleys have collaborated, for instance, with author Garth Stein on two Enzo series children's books featuring a version of the dog in Stein's bestselling novel "The Art of Racing in the Rain."

The Alleys have also teamed up to create "There's a Wolf at the Door," which became one of the Washington Post Best Books of the Year in 2008.

The Alleys, who live in Barrington, R.I., will be teaming up again on Saturday, when they both do a signing at Bank Square.

Authors R.W. Alley and Zoë B. Alley, 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Bank Square Books, 53 West Main St., Mystic; (860) 536-3795.
