Sue Menhart plays Friday happy hour at 21 Rocks

It might be depressing if there was some sort of tote board that's keeping track of local musicians who, because of, or during, or after COVID decided to hang it up.

Understandable? Of course; the pandemic affected — and continues to do so — all of us in one fashion or another.

Fortunately, Sue Menhart, THE matriarch of the local rock music community, has cautiously emerged after more than two years away from the stage. Right now, she's just performing in a solo guise, but it's great to hear That Voice again.

See Menhart play a happy hour show Friday at 21 Rocks in Mystic. Expect new material, request "Can't Feel the Rain" or ask that she read from her hilarious but poignant memoir, "They Made Me Play a Polka."

    Sue Menhart, 4 p.m. Friday, 21 Rocks, 3 Williams Ave., Mystic; free; (860) 536-8140.
