Granite Theatre stage 'Shrek the Musical'
Granite Theatre is moving from an old-school children's tale, “Alice in Wonderland,” to a modern comic-romp fairy tale in “Shrek the Musical.”
In both cases, kid viewers are the winners.
Granite just wrapped its run of “Alice” and kicks off “Shrek” on Thursday.
In this production directed by Erin Sousa-Stanley, the cast is led by Jaron Wilbur as Shrek and Grace Gilbert as Fiona.
The show boasts music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire.
Take note: The Granite is hosting a Gala Fundraiser at 6 p.m. July 9, where folks can interact with characters from the show. Tickets are $20 per individual or $50 per family (two adults and unlimited kids).
“Shrek the Musical,” Granite Theatre, 1 Granite St., Westerly; runs Thurs.-July 24; shows at 7:30 p.m. Thurs.-Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun.; $25; (401) 596-2341, granitetheatre.org.
