Hit-maker Richard Marx performs at Foxwoods

Richard Marx was a radio (and MTV) staple in the 1980s, sure, but he was (and is) much more than a singer.

He’s a talented songwriter who penned not only his own chart-toppers but also hits for other artists.

He wrote “This I Promise You,” which was recorded by NSYNC, and co-wrote the Grammy-winning “Dance with My Father” with Luther Vandross.

Marx showed off his range, too, on his 2022 album “Songwriter,” which consists of segments boasting songs that are pop; rock; and country. There’s also a ballads section. He co-wrote numbers on “Songwriter” with such diverse artists as Keith Urban, Burt Bacharach and Chris Daughtry. Pretty great, right?

All this is to say that Marx has A LOT of material to choose from when he performs in concert Friday at Foxwoods.

Richard Marx, 8 p.m. Friday, Great Cedar Showroom, Foxwoods; tickets start at $55; foxwoods.com.
