Boyz II Men to perform at Foxwoods

It’s been more than three decades since Boyz II Men had their first hit, but the sweet-harmony trio somehow seems timeless.

Maybe it’s because their songs have tended not to go for trendy and instead leaned more toward classic Motown-style sounds.

See what we mean when the group performs in concert Saturday at Foxwoods.

Boyz II Men truly ruled the charts. “I’ll Make Love to You” stayed at #1 for 14 weeks in 1994, and then the trio did even better with “One Sweet Day” with Mariah Carey, which hung out at #1 for 16 weeks in 1995.

Here’s an amusing addendum: Last fall, Boyz II Men recorded a new version of Chili’s “I Want My Baby Back” jingle, saying that when the original version came out 25 years ago, people thought they were ones singing it.

Boyz II Men, 8 p.m. Saturday, Premier Theater, Foxwoods; tickets start at $54; foxwoods.com.
