Couple rescued after 4 days in snow

Seattle - A couple rescued four days after their SUV slid off a secluded forest road near Mount St. Helens say they spent their time playing cribbage, melting snow for water, and running the engine just a few minutes at a time to stay warm and save gas.

John and Patricia Norvell, of Vancouver, Wash., were rescued Friday when a group of campers spotted their snow-covered Jeep Cherokee. They were about 30 miles from the nearest town and had no food except jelly beans.

The 63-year-olds went out for a drive on Monday so they could try out John's new camera, but slid into a ditch when they started to back down the one-lane road.

The campers used shovels and their trucks to pull the Norvells out of the ditch.
