ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey casino regulators have approved a plan to have the Mohegan Indian tribe take over day-to-day operations of the oldest casino in New Jersey.
Resorts Casino Hotel was the first casino in the nation to open outside Nevada.
The state Casino Control Commission approved an application for the tribe, which has casinos in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, to run Resorts.
The arrangement is the first involvement in New Jersey casinos for an Indian tribe.
It came about after the death of Resorts co-owner Dennis Gomes in February.
