    Norwich police hire three new officers

    Norwich ― Police Chief Patrick Daley this week announced the hiring of three new police officers, all from eastern Connecticut.

    The new recruits are Madison Nott, 21, of Norwich, Brendan Carter, 23, of Waterford and Stasia Czernicki, 21, of Woodstock.

    The new recruits were sworn in at the department on Tuesday and were scheduled to begin training at the Connecticut Police Academy on Wednesday.

    Nott, the daughter of New London Police Officer Deanna Nott and New London Firefighter Joseph Nott, is a third generation police officer who served with the Army National Guard’s 1048th Transportation Company and previously served as a community service officer with the Waterford Police Department.

    Carter is a Waterford High School graduate and second generation police officer. Czernicki is a Woodstock Academy graduate, a member of the Navy Reserves and previously worked for Whitcraft LLC in Eastford.

    The new recruits are expected to graduate from the police academy in in October.
