Montville - Robert E. Washington, 75, of 12 Heatherbrook Road, Uncasville, died Wednesday evening, April 29, 2009, at The William W. Backus Hospital.

He was born in Sanford, Maine, on April 23, 1934, the son of the late Wilfred and Anita (Dubois) Washington.

Bob was employed as a technical writer at Electric Boat in Groton for 29 years and was last employed at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks before retiring. He served in the U.S. Navy in the submarine service. Bob was a member of the Marine Draftsman Association and the Westbrook Lodge of Elks. He was an avid New York Giants and Boston Red Sox fan. Bob loved to fish and play poker on Wednesday evenings at Hillcrest.

On Sept. 24, 1955, he married Mary (Donahue) Washington at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown, who survives him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kevin Washington of Preston and Kirk Washington of Uncasville and his companion, Robin Henault; two daughters, Karen Washington of Lisbon and Kimberly Wisniewski and her husband, Steven, of Scotland; two sisters, Gloria Dion of Norwich and Donna Shaw of Sanford, Maine; his grandchildren, Christopher, Paul, and Nicole; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich, meeting directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich. Calling hours at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B. St., Taftville, will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
