Calling hours, funeral scheduled for New London teacher who collapsed at school

New London — Calling hours for fourth-grade teacher Brian Smith will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Church & Allen Funeral Service, 136 Sachem St. in Norwich.

Smith, who taught in the New London schools for more than 30 years, collapsed in his classroom at Jennings School Tuesday morning and died on the way to the hospital.

A funeral service for Smith will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, at Church & Allen. Donations can be made in Smith's memory to The Jimmy Fund and Marines Helping Marines.
