    John Perri, 86, Westbrook, formerly of Guilford

    John Perri, 86, of Westbrook, formerly of Guilford, died Sept. 9 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Jean Perri.  Along with his two brothers, John had owned and operated R. Perri and Sons, which specialized in Italian sausage, serving as vice-president. Later, John worked for Century 21 as a real estate broker. 

    John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2 in Hamden and was also a past president of the Guilford Lions Club. In addition he was a member of the Shoreline Italian American Club and had been a volunteer at the Connecticut Hospice for 13 years.

    Besides his wife, he is survived by his much-loved children, Nancy Perri, Paula Perri, Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Petr, John Perri, Jr., and Francesca Perri; five grandchildren, John, Corey, Daniel, Angela, and Annajean; a brother, Frank Perri; and sister, Nancy Coppola. He was predeceased by his daughter, Annajean Perri; his brother, Anthony Perri; and his sister, Carol DeMusis.

    A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford, on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m., followed by burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.  Friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  For more information or to send an on-line condolence for the family, please visit www.GuilfordFuneralHome.com.
