Peter A. Johnson, 83, of Guilford, died peacefully on Sept. 14 at the Hospital of St. Raphael, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of 53 years to Ellen Johnson.  Mr. Johnson was employed at Griswold Department Store and at St. George Catholic Church.  He was also a 58-year member of the Knights of Columbus, St. George Council No. 3928, and he acted as the Council financial secretary.    

Besides his wife, he is survived by his five children, Michael, Stephen, and Patricia Johnson, Ann Reed, and Elaine Riojas; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Rachael, Morgan, and Ashley Reed, Cory Riojas, Caitlyn, Eric, and Sarah Johnson, and Jared Preston; and his sister, Helen Dolezal. 

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m., at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford.  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial gifts to the St. George Church Renovation Fund, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford, CT 06437.  The Guilford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
