Blanche G. (Bean) Lombardi, 102, a Chester resident and former longtime Ivoryton resident, died on Dec. 15 at Chesterfields Healthcare Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Lombardi, who predeceased her in 1977.  Blanche was born in Old Lyme, daughter of the late William and Gertrude Bean. She had been a foster parent for over 30 years to many children and her impact on their lives was immeasurable.

Her family thanks the staff at Chesterfields for the love and kindness they showed “Gram” over the past 2 ½ years.

She is survived by her son Robert and his wife Nancy Lombardi of Ivoryton; her son-in-law Charles Sakmar of Ivoryton; her grandchildren, Rob, Deb, Tam, Patty, Beverly, Sandy, Kathy, and Michael; and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two daughters, Mary Korineck and Pauline Sakmar, and two granddaughters, Maryann and Brenda.

A graveside service was held on Dec. 18 in Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Essex Fire Department, Box 786, Essex, CT 06426.
