    Michael John McCue, Formerly of Branford

    Michael John McCue, a former Branford resident, died suddenly on Dec. 2 in La Ceiba, Honduras. Michael grew up in Branford and, after high school, joined the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War years, where he was stationed at Midway Island. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he worked at Southern New England Telephone for many years, and then transferred to the southern states of Georgia and Texas to pursue other telecommunication pursuits. While in Branford, Michael served as the president of the Branford Jaycees for a short time.

    Michael’s early retirement years were spent on the north coast of Honduras where he could enjoy the Caribbean Sea. He loved sailing, motorcycle riding, and sharing stories of family and friends.

    His is survived by three daughters, Milissa McCue of Powder Springs, Georgia, Megan McCue of Acworth, Georgia, and Darlene Mihalakos of Milford. He is also survived by two sisters, Kelly McCue of Dummerston, Vermont, and Sharon Nakagawa of Stockton, California, as well as seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Mervin McCue, Jr.

    A memorial mass of Christian burial with military honors will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 731 Main St., Branford, on Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. There are no calling hours.
