    Joseph L. Zampano, 71, East Haven

    Joseph L. Zampano, 71, of East Haven, died on March 20 at the Connecticut Hospice. Joseph was born in New Haven on March 19, 1942, son of the late Louis and Helen (Wilchinski) Zampano. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War on the USS Farragut. Joseph was extremely proud to have served his country, and he retired from the CT Army National Guard with 34 years of service. He was later employed by the State of Connecticut, working on bridge repair and construction.

    He is survived by two loving daughters, Christine Zampano and Elisabeth Zampano, both of East Haven; three grandchildren, Keri Ann Zampano, Jasmin Edmonds, and Amanda Craig; and two great-grandchildren, Mya Zampano and Abigail Rivera. He is also survived by three nephews, Frank, Michael, and Brian Funaro; his gumbas, Tony D., Tony A., Roddy, and all the guys at the Branford Gun Club; and his friend and dog, “Meesha.” He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Funaro.

    His family will receive friends on Sunday, March 24, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:30 p.m. at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
