Mary-Ellen Chandler, 64, of East Haven, wife of 47 years to Thomas Chandler, died May 22 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born May 21, 1949 in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Peters) Lamb. Mary-Ellen was dedicated to her work and retired from the East Haven Public Works after 25 years of service. Blessed by her appreciation of life’s simple gifts, she enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling, and time spent on the ocean. The family wishes to thank the staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital, especially the special care provided to her by nurse, Diana. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Debbie Apotrias and her husband Mark of North Branford and Kathy Chandler of New Haven, and her grandchildren Ayden Apotrias and Thomas Kraszewski. Mary-Ellen is also survived by her sisters Georgia Ferraiolo and her husband Donald of East Haven and Debra Germe of East Haven, her brother Joseph Lamb of Meriden, and her dear friend Elsie Culligan of East Haven. She was predeceased by her infant granddaughter Julia Kraszewski and her brother William Lamb.

Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, East Haven. Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Funeral services are in the care of Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven. In lieu of flowers, make donations to Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY, 11714 in memory of Mary-Ellen Chandler.
