Phyllis A. Eldridge, 100, of Essex, died July 21 at Chesterfields Health Care Center, Chester.

Phyllis was born in Deep River on Sept. 18, 1912 to the late Francis C. and Ruth C. (Lamb) Arnold. She was raised in Deep River, where she attended local schools, and was later a graduate of the Hartford School of Nursing. In 1935, Phyllis married Elliot Eldridge, who predeceased her in 1992. Elliot and Phyllis first resided in Chatham, Massachusetts until returning to Connecticut in 1961 to live in Essex.

Phyllis was an avid card player and cat lover.

She is survived by her sister; Pamelia Adanti of Deep River, several nieces and nephews and her beloved kitty Missy. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her brother; Alfred C. ‘Cornie’ Arnold and her brother-in- law; John L. Adanti, Sr.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at the Fountain Hill Cemetery, High Street, Deep River.
