Donald C. LaCourse, 63, of Deep River, husband of 40 years to Clare (Gannon) LaCourse, died unexpectedly Aug. 16 at his home.

Don graduated from The University of Connecticut and was an educator at Fitch High School in Groton for 37 years. He was a talented artist, and operated DC LaCourse Photography Studio. His favorite activities included traveling with his family, sharing his vast music collection, and riding his Harley Davidson. Don was a proud member of the Deep River Fire Department for 10 years, badge #29.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his sons Adam of Deep River and Ryan of Boston, Massachusetts; his mother Claire LaCourse of Groton; his four sisters Barbara Turano and her husband Charles of Bradenton, Florida, Renee Marquand and Janis Krotsis and her husband John of Groton, and Denise Banas and her husband Henry of Gales Ferry; many nieces and nephews; his extended family of in-laws; and Sergeant Pepper. Don was predeceased by his sons David and Vincent LaCourse; and his father Camille LaCourse.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Robinson Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. Centerbrook from 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Middlesex Ave., Chester, followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
