Maria Giuseppina (Gagliardi) Torsone, 102, of East Haven, beloved wife of the late Guglielmo Torsone, died Sept. 3 in Talmadge Park Health Care Center after a brief illness. Maria was born Feb. 11, 1911 in Alife Caserta, Italy to the late Pasquale and Maria (Landolfi) Gagliardi. She worked as a tailor for the former Gentry Limited before her retirement. 

She is survived by three children, Maria and her husband Nicholas Santore of East Haven, Joan Burke of Branford and Gaetano Torsone of Alife Caserta, Italy; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her funeral procession will leave Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. from the Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven, for a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
