    Joseph C. Hines, 87, Branford

    Joseph C. Hines, 87, of Branford, husband of the late Adele Truskowski Hines, died Sept. 18 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was born May 1, 1926 in Stony Creek to the late Joseph H. and Sarah Cole Hines.

    Joe was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Maricopa and the USS Chowenoc. He worked for O. F. Mossberg as a millwright for many years until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 83 in Branford, a drummer for the Stony Creek Fife and Drum Corps, and a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford. 

    He is survived by his son Joseph P. Hines of Branford; his three grandsons, Chris Hines and his wife Sarah, Eric Hines and his wife Tina and Bryan Hines and his wife Rachel, all of Massachusetts; his great-grandchildren Olivia, Cole, Luke, Anna and Drew Hines; his sisters Regina Sansone of Branford and Beverly Harrison of Guilford; and his sister-in-law Evelyn Truskowski of Branford. Joe was predeceased by his son Allan Hines; and his sister Evangeline Gilliam.

    His funeral procession will leave Friday, Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m. from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, for a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary Church at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
