    Florence (Erklauer) O'Keeffe, 83, Madison

    Florence (Erklauer) O'Keeffe, 83, of Madison, wife of the late James P. O'Keeffe, died peacefully Oct. 2. She was born Sept. 5, 1930 in New York City to the late Florence and Henry Erklauer. Her family later moved to Ridgefield, where she graduated from Ridgefield High School.

    Florence earned her R.N. from St. Vincent's College School of Nursing and was later employed at St. Vincent's Hospital. She married James, her high school sweetheart, and continued her nursing career with various part-time nursing positions in numerous states, while raising her family and supporting her husband's career.

    Florence loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed holidays and special occasions spent together. She enjoyed gardening and could often be found working in her yard. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, and those who knew Florence will miss her unconditional love and support, gifts that will live on in memories.

    She is survived by her three children, Kathleen of Annandale, New Jersey, Patrick of Madison, and Mary (O'Keeffe) Durosko and her husband Philip of Glastonbury; three grandchildren, Meghan O'Keeffe, and Lindsey and Jacqueline Durosko; and her nephews Peter, Paul and Bill Erklauer. She was predeceased by her brother William Erklauer; and sister Grace Erklauer.
