Kathleen E. (Riley) Hotchkiss, 86, of North Haven, wife of 60 years to the late Charles G. “Potch” Hotchkiss, Jr., died peacefully Oct. 12 at home with her son Gray and daughter-in-law Jenny by her side. She was born Dec. 1, 1926 in Yalesville to Ted and Emma (Ecker) Riley.

She married Potch in 1948 and they resided in North Haven, where she raised their children and went on to work for the family business, Hotchkiss Express Trucking. Kathleen loved to cook and was an avid reader. For more than 25 years, she and Potch enjoyed winters at their home in St. Croix.

Gray and Jenny would like to thank and express their gratitude to Dr. Robert Lebson and Karen Walsh for their compassion, kindness and wonderful care of mom. It was above and beyond and will never be forgotten. 

Kathleen is survived by a daughter, Lauren “Cindy” Roncetti and her husband Peter; a son, Robert Graham “Gray” Hotchkiss and his wife Jenny of Old Lyme; grandchildren Katie and Benjamin and Maighan Martin and her husband Matthew; great-grandchildren Noah Matthew, Grace Leigh, Caleb Ryan and Carter Charles Graham Martin; her sister Terry Nalewajk and her husband Stan of Guilford; and sister-in-law Barbara Riley. In addition to her husband and parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her brother Robert Riley.
