    Francis W. Sweigart Sr., 91, Guilford

    Francis W. Sweigart, Sr., 91, of Guilford, husband of the late Muriel B. Sweigart, died peacefully Nov. 18 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 14, 1922 in Orange, New Jersey to the late William and Margaret (Mulraney) Sweigart.

    Frank served in the 482nd Bomb Group, 8th Army Air Force, in Europe during World War II. He was a retired chief of Little Falls Fire Company #3 and a member of VFW Post 7506. He began working in the United States Post Office in Cedar Grove, New Jersey in 1949, was appointed Post Master in 1973, retiring in 1981. He lived at The Gables in Guilford for more than 10 years.

    He is survived by his daughters Margaret Kozub and her husband John, Jr., of Guilford, Roberta Price of Fredericksburg,Virginia, and Deborah Bates of Baltimore, Maryland; son Francis W. Sweigart, Jr., and his wife Jacquelyn of Caldwell, New Jersey; grandchildren John Kozub III, Amy Steffanides and her husband Todd, Rosemary Sweigart, and Brendan Sweigart; and three great-grandchildren, Caden Kozub; and Avery and Jack Steffanides, who were all the light of his life in his later years.

    Services with military honors will be held Friday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. in Laurel Grove Cemetery, 295 Totowa Rd, Totowa, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT 06405. The Guilford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
