    Arthur Thomas Lillquist, 89, Madison

    Arthur Thomas Lillquist, 89, of Madison, husband of the late Carolyn (Sullivan) Lillquist, died Nov. 26 at Madison House. He was born April 12, 1924 to the late Arthur and Priscilla (McMahon) Lillquist. Arthur graduated from West Haven High School in 1942 and enlisted in the United States Army.

    He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 in the 3rd and 7th Army 42nd Infantry “Rainbow” Division and 232nd Infantry Regiment, and was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and a Purple Heart. Arthur also attended the University of Alabama. He worked as a sales representative for Chapin and Bangs Company for many years before his retirement. 

    Arthur married his wife, Carolyn Sullivan, in 1947 at St. Peters Church in New Haven. He was president of West Haven Biddy Basketball and a member of the American Legion.

    He is survived by three sons, Arthur K., Stephen, and Christopher of Branford; a grandson, Arthur Thomas of Old Saybrook; granddaughters Anne of Madison and Katelyn of Branford; and brothers George of Austin, Texas and Richard of Reston, Virginia. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Grace Anne Lillquist. 

    A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church. Burial will follow in Saint Bernard’s Cemetery in New Haven.
