Vincent Modzelewski, Jr., 65, of Branford died Nov. 30 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Vincent was born March 14, 1948 in New Haven to Jessica Modzelewski of Branford and the late Vincent Modzelewski, Sr.

He was a lifelong Branford resident and managed several garden centers in Branford, including Shelley’s Garden Center, Van Wilgen’s, and Frank’s Nursery and Crafts. He was an avid gardener who loved growing Roses and Hastas. He was also an avid skier and loved to travel. He was a fan of both UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams, the New York Giants, and the Boston Red Sox.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister Nancy Chapman and her husband Sam of Branford; several cousins; and his two Labrador Retrievers, Eli and Roscoe.     

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Branford. Friends may call prior to Mass from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT 06405. The W.S.
