Mildred “Millie” Cast Maksymkow, 99, of Branford, loving wife of the late Harry J. Cast, Sr., and the late Charles Maksymkow, died Dec. 8. She was born Jan. 7, 1914 in New York City to the late William and Alma Herbig Christie. 

She worked for AT&T for more than 20 years before retiring as a manager in their finance department. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed crocheting. 

Mildred is survived by her sons Henry “Harry” Cast, Jr., and his wife Catherine of Branford, Thomas Cast and his wife Jacqueline of Manchester, New Jersey, and James Cast and his wife Kathleen of Wading River, New York; daughter-in-law Mary Patricia “Pat” Cast of Mission Viejo, California; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alma Haller of Boonton, New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Richard Cast of Mission Viego, California; and six brothers, Robert, Edward, William, Jr., Walter, Calvin, and Howard Christie. 

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Dec. 13 at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Branford. Burial was in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York. The Keenan Funeral Home, North Branford, was in charge of arrangements. keenanfuneralhome.com.
