    Fazio Michael Bagnoli, 62, Madison, formerly of East Haven

    Fazio Michael Bagnoli, 62, of Madison, formerly of East Haven, died Dec. 17 at Smilow Cancer Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. Fazio was born Feb. 9, 1951 in San Biase, Province of Campobasso, Italy to the late Costantino Bagnoli and Ortensia De Paola Bagnoli.

    A 28 year resident of Madison, his family relocated to the United States when he was seven years old and settled in East Haven. He graduated from East Haven High School and Milford Academy, and earned a BA in History from the University of Bridgeport and an MS in Education from the University of Rhode Island. He coached college football at a number of institutions, including the University of Rhode Island, and worked for 29 years for the Southern Connecticut Gas Company before retiring in 2013.

    Fazio coached Madison Little League for many years and was a longtime coach and former president of Madison Youth Football, as well as an active member of the Madison Country Club. He was also a loyal parishioner of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church in Madison. A devoted husband and father, he cherished the time he spent with his family, and will be remembered always for his strength, fairness, dignity and wisdom.

    The Bagnoli family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Smilow Cancer Hospital staff for their wonderful care.

    Fazio is survived by his wife Loren Pontillo Bagnoli; daughter Kristin Bagnoli of Boston, Massachusetts; son Michael Bagnoli of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters Flora and her husband Paul Perrelli of Guilford and Antoinette and her husband Mark Harris of East Haven; brother Eldo Bagnoli and his wife Maryellen of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey; brother-in-law William Pontillo of Hamden; and several nieces and nephews.

    His funeral procession will leave the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road, Madison on Monday, Dec. 23 for A Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church in Madison. Visiting hours will be Sunday, Dec. 22 from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Madison Youth Football, P.O. Box 169, Madison, CT 06443 or Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven. Swan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
