David E. Burke, 83, of Branford, beloved husband of Beverly Berger Burke, died Jan. 1 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. Mr. Burke was born March 31, 1930 in Jamaica, New York to the late Stephen and Grace Baker Burke. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean War and graduated from New England College, where he played soccer.

Dave was a real estate broker and the owner of Weichert Realtors, Shoreline Properties, in Branford. He was a longtime member of the Middlesex Shoreline, Connecticut, and National Associations of Realtors.

Dave was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford, a commissioner at the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, and an active member of the Branford Lions Club. He was also an avid golfer and gardener. 

In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by his children Bryan M. Burke and Jill Sperandeo of Carlsbad, California, Stephen P. Burke and his wife Ann of Branford, Tracy Burke and Chuck Conti of Branford, and Amy Biehayn and Chuck Paige of Sparta, New Jersey; grandchildren Hayden, Tyler, Chase, Patrick and Sarah Burke and Bryan Biehayn; and a nephew and nieces. He is also survived by his faithful dog, Aurie. He was predeceased by his brother John Burke.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday, Jan. 5 from 4 - 7 p.m. at W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church.
