William Michael Reiss passed away peacefully Jan. 31 at his home in Westbrook with his family beside him. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Tierney Reiss. William was born Nov. 24, 1940 in New Haven, son of the late William and Marian Helene Flaherty Reiss.

He was the father of Michael William Reiss of Clinton, Maureen (Brad) Laird of North Branford, William Michael (Kristine) Reiss of Westbrook, Honey Reiss-Dombkowski of Chester, and Elizabeth (Ted) Vecchiarino of Ivoryton CT; grandfather of Bradford, Jack, and Guy Laird; and grandchildren from his first marriage William and Stephanie Reiss, step-grandchildren Andrew and Kaitlyn, Danielle and Brittany Dombkowsky, and Eliza Hope Vecchiaino. He is also survived by his brother Tim (Nicky) Reiss of Branford; and sisters Joan (Chuck) Law of Clinton and Debra (Butch) Onofrio of Florida. 

Mr. Reiss is a graduate of Guilford High School and served in his country in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. After his service duty in the Marines, he went on to work as a mechanic. William also worked as an auto salesman for Bob Thomas Ford, and during retirement he worked part-time as a school bus driver. 

 Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home. Burial will take place privately.
