Bertha S. Zirlis, 95, of Branford, died March 29 in Connecticut Hospice. She was the wife of the late Joseph V. Zirlis, Sr. Mrs. Zirlis was born August 25, 1918, in New York, New York, daughter of the late Stefan and Sophie Bernat Prusinski.

She worked for Southern Connecticut State University for many years until retiring. She is survived by her sons, Joseph V. Zirlis, Jr., and his wife Jane of East Haddam, and Robert S. Zirlis and his wife Barbara of East Haven; her brother Stanley Prusinski of Northford; three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Jane McKosky and Helen Care, and her brothers, Thaddeus Proshansky and Philip Prusinski.

Friends may call April 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, and are invited to a Mass of Christian burial April 2 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church, New Haven.
