East Haven and West Haven
Stanley W. Morcus, Jr., 86, of West Haven, formerly of East Haven, passed away July 20 at Apple Rehab in West Haven. He was born April 19, 1928, in Ansonia to the late Stanley Morcus and Helen Machutas.
Stanley is survived by two children, Andrew Morcus (Carolyn) of Hamden, and Kathleen Pacheco (widow of Edward) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a brother, Richard Morcus (Ruth), of Punta Gorda, Florida; and grandchildren Samuel Haller and Julian Haller. Stanley is also survived by longtime companion Lois Fitzgerald of West Haven.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired with more than 37 years of service from Yale University. He was a former fire commissioner and a member of VFW Post 2090 and American Legion Post 175, all in East Haven, and a member of the Waucoma Yacht Club and Elks Lodge 25 in New Haven.
Calling hours preceded the service on July 25 in the Clancy Funeral Home, East Haven. Burial followed at All Saints Cemetery with military honors. For an online obituary, please visit
