Margaret L. Jordan, 89, of North Branford, died on August 11 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a short illness. Margaret was a displaced Californian, having been born in San Francisco on January 19, 1925, and having lived all over California before moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a newlywed.

Margaret filled many roles over the years. As a Host Family Coordinator with both the City Missionary Society of Boston and the Fresh Air Fund of New York, she helped place inner city children with local families for summer visits. She was also a shop owner and a bed-and-breakfast innkeeper on Martha’s Vineyard for several years. Margaret was active in many of the activities and committees at Evergreen Woods, where she resided for the last 15 years. Her most important role was as a loving wife to her late husband of 63 years, Harold, and mother to her daughters Catherine and Frances. Life was always positive and joyful for Margaret.
